About
Lanre Da Silva was established in 2005 as a multidisciplinary fashion label specializing in couture women’s wear, ready-to-wear collections, jewelry, and hairpieces. The brand has worked diligently to position itself among Africa’s leading fashion labels, delivering high-quality luxury products with exceptional attention to detail.
Recognized as an African luxury brand, Lanre Da Silva is known for its innovative use of metallic fabrics, lace, and vibrant African patterns. The collections have been showcased on prestigious global platforms, including New York Fashion Week, and products have been sold at Dolce & Gabbana’s “Concept Spiga 2” store in Milan. In 2012, Lanre Da Silva was invited as one of two designers to participate in the United Nations’ “Fashion Development Project,” aimed at supporting the luxury industry across the continent. That same year, the brand gained visibility through a feature in L’Uomo Vogue, which focused on “Re-branding Africa.”
The brand has received notable mentions in influential publications, including a highlight in Italian Vogue that showcased its strong following in Africa, supported by media outlets and numerous celebrities. In 2014, Lanre Da Silva was again featured in Vogue Italia for sharing the experience of meeting the late Franca Sozzani, the magazine’s editor, whose support helped elevate the brand’s presence, ultimately leading to its designs being stocked by the online retailer yoox.com.
Throughout the years, the collections have been characterized as groundbreaking due to a commitment to using traditional African prints. By modernizing these motifs, they have become central to the brand’s identity. In 2017, an opportunity arose to create outfits for the lookbook of Vlisco, a leading African fabrics and textiles manufacturer.
Notable events showcasing Lanre Da Silva’s collections include the This Day Africa Rising Festival in London, the Arise Africa Fashion Festival in South Africa, New York Couture Fashion Week, and Arise Magazine Fashion Week in Lagos. A highlight for the brand was in 2018 when it returned to the Arise Africa Fashion Festival, where British supermodel Naomi Campbell opened the show wearing one of its designs.
